1. Lovehoney and the Environment

Lovehoney is working to minimise its impact on the environment. These are some of the things we do in order to provide you with a greener place to shop.

Recycle your old vibrators with Lovehoney

If you’re buying a new electrical item, we will recycle your old one for free

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste.

Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old electrical items.

Items sent to Lovehoney are taken to a designated collection facility where they are recycled and treated in an ecologically sound manner. Because we can recycle any WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), we'll even accept your old toasters or hair straighteners!

Send your items to us at the address below, and we'll do the rest:

    Lovehoney Recycling
    100 Locksbrook Road
    BA1 3EN

    It's the crossed-out wheelie bin

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

Find more information on WEEE recycling, and locate your local recycling centre, at www.recyclenow.com.

    Waste Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Regulations

Lovehoney is committed to adopting greener business practices that will benefit both its customers and the environment. Lovehoney works with a leading UK provider of reliable and responsible compliance and recycling solutions to ensure it complies with environmental legislation. Lovehoney has launched the Rabbit Amnesty recycling scheme.

    Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Lovehoney is now offering a take back scheme. Should you wish, you can bring us your batteries and we'll recycle them for you, however DEFRA says that it's not safe to post us your used batteries.

Alternatively, you can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com. Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points.

    Lovehoney Web Servers Carbon Offset

Lovehoney's web servers are hosted with a company that offsets its carbon emissions in association with the International Tree Foundation. Native British tree species (such as Rowan, Whitebeam, Lime, Ash, Hornbeam, Oak, Birch, Beech, Hazel, Goat Willow and White Poplar) are planted in Pembrokeshire to offset the emissions of Lovehoney's servers.

The ITF is a UK charity that promotes an appreciation of trees, both in the UK and overseas. We recognise that trees play a vital role in the health, wellbeing and economies of communities around the world, and we support a range of projects that work to plant, care for and protect trees.

    What else Lovehoney is doing

All boxes used to send your order are made from 80% recycled material and are 100% recyclable. Click here to see our envelopes and boxes.

Lovehoney staff are encouraged to lift-share wherever possible and many do so. Bicycles can be safely stored on Lovehoney premises and a shower is available to staff who cycle, walk or run to work.

Wherever possible, meetings are conducted by telephone, instant messenger or videoconference, minimising the need to travel to business meetings.

Lovehoney staff are encouraged to always switch off lights, monitors, PCs, photocopiers and printers at night and during prolonged breaks. By doing this, it is possible to reduce emissions associated with electricity consumption by up to 20%.

Facilities are provided so staff can recycle cans, bottles, cardboard and paper.

We will continue to encourage our staff to be aware of energy efficiency and create an energy efficient ethos.
