Coco de Mer Delrin Cane
A bit flimsy but great for beginners to intermediate
Reviewed: 30 August 2016 by MondaySixteenth
Background: I am very much into BDSM and have a good knowledge of products. I would class my level of knowledge as advance so you might want to bear this in mind if you're a total beginner.
Product arrived on time but in a huge box so be warned if you're trying to have subtle delivery! The box was unmarked and anonymous but about 4 ft high! The product did arrive undamaged, though.
Upon first inspection, this looked like an excellent product. The rod is a good length and would be used from a standing position due to this length rather than over the knee. The handle is made of what appears to be wood and is either very dark brown or black. The handle is completely solid but still lightweight and it's easy to get a good grip on it with my little finger resting neatly in the groove. There was a small indent in the wood on mine, however, this is only noticeable when the light hits it and it's not for sitting around looking pretty, it's for use! The handle also has a small metal hoop on the end meaning this could be easily hooked into a cupboard or dungeon wall and if you wanted you could tie string or ribbon to this to hook over your wrist to avoid throwing the cane in a session (think Wii remote control strap).
When whooshing through the air the cane makes a satisfying noise and leaves a stingy sensation however the impact isn't as lasting as it could be. This is due to the rod being made of a fairly flimsy plastic. Whilst the product is stiff enough to stay rigid the rod moves back and forth when used minimising the impact of the caning. Whilst discussing this with my partner I suggested however that this feature might be good for lighter but more repeated impacts which still leave you tender but without the all in one impact. This would be achieved by positioning the cane beside the subs body part of choice and gently wiggling your hand back and forth causing the cane to give repeated light hits to the area.
I am unsure whether this will stand the test of time if used for striking, however, it is certainly good for the sustained spanking suggested above.
- Wood handle, easy to grip. Alternative usage to normal.
- Not great for striking as plastic feels flimsy.
- Bottom line
- Not best for striking but good for gradual, sustained impact.
