Looks great on but
Reviewed: 11 October 2015 by Stuburns, a Straight Married Male
We have a fair amount of wet look clothing/lingerie. We love how it is designed to hug all the body but isn't too restrictive that it becomes uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. What's not to like about black and tight fitting? Mix it with a few see-through panels and an open cup and in my opinion there isn't much that can beat it.
The chemise comes with minimal packaging and fits through the letterbox. No need to wait around for your postie. On opening you notice the underwired cutouts where the cups should be. Also, 4 small see-through mesh panels on the front. There is also a mesh panel that will sit above your boobs. This is attached to the adjustable straps. Turn it over and you find a larger mesh panel in a triangle from mid back to lower back. The chemise is ruched at the bottom to highlight the curve of your bum. I love anything ruched. It really emphasises the shape of my OH's bottom. Mostly the chemise is black wet look material.
When worn this fits perfectly in all places. The underwired part sits nicely below the boobs and does not rise when moving about. However, the chemise does rise from the bottom but this is no fault of the chemise. It is impossible to stay fixed below the bum, so sometimes it needs pulling down again. Not all the time mind. Sometimes you need it to ride a little higher, if you get my meaning. We were completely happy with the fit. My OH is a petite size 8 and the small fits perfectly.
As for quality, on first glance this looks top quality. All the seams look well stitched. The mesh and wet look panels are all evenly cut and stitched. However, we did find after the first use the wire from one of the cupless sections had pushed through and about 2 inches of wire was outside of the garment. Not what I would expect from such an expensive piece after just one use. This could be remedied easily by the makers and should be remedied. It is such an obvious problem that I'm sure happens on bras and cupless items around the world and cannot believe that after one use this has happened.
All was going so well for this item up to that point.
- Figure hugging. Ruched behind.
- Cup underwire poking through.
- Bottom line
- Sexy item with simple major flaw.

Faulty after first wear, cheaply made - not for me!

When I saw this available for testing, I jumped at adding it to my 'Sex Toy Testers' wishlist as I'm a fan of fetish wear. After my last purchase of lingerie from Lovehoney was a bit of a disappointment, I was hoping for this to excite me about the lingerie/fetishwear available from Lovehoney.
Not long after receiving the email to confirm I was to be testing this product, it arrived through my front door. As soon as I got my hands on the parcel, it was ripped open to reveal the Coquette Darque Open Cup Wet Look Chemise which was contained in a clear plastic bag. Considering the price of the item, I did expect a bit more effect in the packaging as I am a bit crazy for presentation. So that was a little disappointment, but nothing major.
Once I got past the packaging and to the garment itself, I took a quick gander at the seams and quality, which again for the price, wasn’t impressive. However, I don’t think the person viewing would care to check out the seams when they are busy checking out the person wearing this kind of item. After the quick inspection, I stripped off and slid into the chemise. The wet-look material mixed with mesh made the garment fairly stretchy making the fit very figure-hugging all over and in the right places. The actual sizing I’d say is matching up to a size UK 8-10, which is appropriate for a size small.
One issue I found with the fit was the sizing of the underwire. Being a garment with no specific bra size, I understand that the underwire has been chosen to fit an average size. But this didn’t really work for me, I’m a 32C and found that the underwire was too wide and caused a little discomfort. Let’s not forget though, this is an item that may not stay on for too long…
In terms of the how the Chemise looked on, it’s not something I’d keep if I purchased it. It does make my boobs looks great and they are definitely on display with this item, but the overall look is quite cheap and also gathers in not so flattering areas. If it was tighter fitting and shaped the wearer's body a bit like how latex does, then this would have been more pleasing.
When it came to trying on the Chemise for the second time I noticed that the underwire had already broken through the seam and the little elastic tabs which hold the removable mesh above the breasts was ready to fall off. Luckily I work with and study lingerie at university, so I can easily fix this, but it’s not impressive at all to be fixing the item already after simply trying the item on!
Finally, I did a wash test and followed the advised process; hand-washing and hand-drying. As expected it survived through my delicate hands and was the same as new but with a fresh scent. For curiosity, I also tested the item in the washing machine as not everyone has the time or cares for hand-washing clothing. Again, it survived this. Came out slightly stuck to itself, as I expected, but easily pulled apart and was back to its original self.
Thank you Lovehoney for giving me the opportunity to review the Coquette Darque Open Cup Wet Look Chemise. I am disappointed that it turned out to be more negative than positive, but I can try again with another piece of lingerie some other time!
- Figure hugging and fairly comfortable.
- Very poor quality, became faulty after trying on first time.
- Bottom line
- Far too expensive for the quality, lack of packaging and cheap labelling.
