    1. Why is there a dildo on your wall?

Reviewed: 07 December 2016 by Dilillili, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

One morning I woke up craving a cock in both ends. Additionally, as a proud owner of far too many vibrators - that I rarely take full advantage of - but nothing in any way recognisably phallic, I determined that it was high time I filled that particular niche (haha).

Since I prefer to use my toys as part of couple play, especially in this case, I involved my partner in the selection process. I wanted something that actually looked like a penis, with suction to be hands-free and ideally not too big (read intimidating). For my OH's part, he wanted something that wasn't too realistic, so we agreed that we wanted something that wasn't flesh coloured. Although bigger than originally intended I prioritised a realistic shape, so for all Lovehoney's vast range this was the only one that really satisfied all those requirements.

Of course, delivery was discreet as always and I was thrilled when it arrived. Encased in plastic with a very steely design, it was very big and looked quite daunting, I think my SO went a bit green until he reasoned that actually guys always perceive their penis as smaller than it actually is and that he was probably about the same size. However, when we got the plastic packaging open I barely got any time with it because he kept flopping it around and trying to stick it on his forehead! Which he did eventually manage, and proceeded to giggle quietly for half an hour solid.

I prefer to get familiar with products on my own first and conveniently I had the next day off, so I tested it while my partner was at work. The suction was great, it stays in place very firmly on vertical surfaces (but can slide down on wet bathroom tiles). Unfortunately, I found that the awesome hands-free fun I envisioned wasn't so realistic... Where do I put my legs if I'm on hands and knees? When I'm standing(ish) where or at what height should I stick it at and how do I handle the awkward angle?? Some creative use of the bannisters answered the first question and the rim of the bath solved the second, but I don't think I'll use the suction for much more than storage for now.

The girth was surprisingly easy to accommodate with a healthy dash of lubricant and I worked my way up to the full length as I got into it, in a manner of speaking. The shaft is rigid enough that it doesn't flop but flexible enough that you can waggle it and the angle generally adjusts to your curves. It was really satisfying and I'd definitely been missing out by not having a dildo. As a first dildo I probably wouldn't recommend it for the generally inexperienced - there are very similar dildos out there that look like a more manageable size - but it was very well pitched for me. It isn't very textured, so it feels quite straightforward in that way and it's unlikely to hit any new sweet spots, but it does its job well.

But for me this really comes into its own in couple play. Having my partner use it on me as part of both sex and foreplay brought a little boost to my love life that I'd craved. The taste isn't great at first but it wears off after a few uses. It was a brilliant turn on to suck a big cock with my partner inside me, and equally fun the other way round. My partner was a little worried that I might enjoy a dildo more than his penis, but I actually found that while it was a really effective turn on and very pleasurable I don't think it in any way replaced good sex. If anything, it just augmented the experience.

It's super simple to clean (a spritz of Lovehoney toy cleaner and a rinse does the job). In terms of storage we tend to just stick it to the door of the bedroom cupboard, the rim of the bath or any other nearby surface. It's great.

My fantasies for hands-free fun weren't very practical...

      Handy, reliable, lots of fun!

    1. A bit of a beast

Reviewed: 23 September 2015 by BlissfulKink99, a Straight Going Steady Male

The first thing to say about the Ice Gem is probably also the first thing you'd notice... it's a girth monster!

The measurements on the product page say 5.5-inch circumference, but we actually measured because that didn't seem right. It's at least 6.5 inches for the most part, and a little more at its thickest. It was a surprise, but not a problem.

It looks great; it's a wonderful design, very realistic, with an enormous head! The product image does not really do it justice. The texture and material are very sexy, with a high quality feel, and the suction cup is excellent. It genuinely sticks very well and copes admirably with more... erm... vigorous usage!

It's early days, but it certainly seems durable, and is easy to clean. Definitely a lovingly-crafted, impressive piece of work.

What I would say is that we like to use toys as a couple, and whilst there are some fun ways to use it together, we probably get more fun out of vibrators and wand massagers. It's also worth mentioning that this is probably not for dildo beginners either. As mentioned, the 6.5-inch circumference, which is consistent for most of the whole 7.5-inch length, makes it a bit of a beast. It was fun, but we are unlikely to use it very often because our other toys offer more, and are a little easier to involve on the spur of the moment.

The packaging is a little odd. It doesn't, as far as I could see, say 'Ice Gem' anywhere. It looks a bit like some futuristic toy packaging, like it's going to be something from Star Wars or Flash Gordon. However, the outer packaging from Lovehoney, as always, was very discreet. A nice plain cardboard box with no suggestion of anything naughty going on.

It arrived in two days, and in superb, flawless condition, as is the case every time we order from Lovehoney.

It looks great, the suction is good, and once it's inside it's going to feel intense. My girlfriend says that its consistent thickness means you get an extremely full, stretched experience maintained while using it.

She also says that it's likely you'll need plenty of warming up, generous lube and some gentle easing in if you want to enjoy it.

It's ideal for solo play, particularly if you love nothing more than the feeling of riding serious girth, and it's still fun for hetero couples because there are some exciting, and very filthy, ways to get it involved. If you plan on putting it anywhere near your bum then lube up as much as you can, then lube up some more.

If you are a beginner or perhaps looking for something a little less on the chunky side, then it probably isn't suited to you (yet).

As far as me and my partner are concerned, it doesn't vibrate so it's not really for us, other than the occasional couple's moment when a big penis that sticks to the bedroom window seems like a good idea...

Looks great, sexy material, suction works well, intense when used!
      Cons
Manufacturer packaging, and it doesn't vibrate!
      Bottom line
Slightly dodgy futuristic packaging but impressive, intense dildo!

    1. A solid basic dildo, but nothing to write home about

Reviewed: 04 July 2016 by secretlyslutty, a Gay Going Steady Female

As the curator of an increasingly out of control dildo collection, I was delighted when Lovehoney sent me this one to review.

An extra note before I get on with the review itself, though: thanks to a cock-up (pun fully intended) on Royal Mail's part, the parcel ended up getting delayed, but Lovehoney were great throughout all this, responding to my emails extremely quickly and keeping me very regularly updated. Thank you, Lovehoney, flawless customer service as always!

Now on to the review. First things first: the packaging isn't the best. It's nice and compact, which is a plus, but it's the sort you basically have to destroy to get into, which is a shame as I like to store my toys in their packaging if I can, and I would especially have liked to be able to do so in this case as the jelly material is a magnet for fluff and hairs and the like (it is very easy to clean though). I did get a few giggles out of the cheesy branding though - why are sex toy manufacturers obsessed with the word "dong"?

Once I'd wrestled it out of the packaging, I was struck by the solid, weighty feeling, which matches the noticeable (but not unduly challenging) girthiness. I like my dildos to have a decent heft to them, and this one definitely fits the bill. For fans of hands-free action who might be worried, though, that doesn't stop the suction cup from being extremely effective. I don't generally bother with suction cups, but I stuck this dildo to a variety of surfaces around the house in the name of research and was impressed by the firm hold in spite of the fairly significant weight.

The firmness to squishiness ratio is also pretty spot on, in my opinion, meaning that the dildo is solid and stands fairly upright unaided (though not as straight upright as in the picture), but is also flexible and has a bit of give to it if you give it a squeeze. In my experience, this makes for a comfortable, easy to use toy.

There is a slight plasticy smell if you hold it right up to your nose and sniff, but it's nowhere near as strong as with many jelly toys. The see-through, very slightly blue/purple design is also very appealing and a bit unusual, which distracts from the otherwise realistic design, in a good way. As you can probably tell, I am a definite fan of the design and construction of this toy.

Unfortunately, however, it just doesn't do it for me when I actually use it for its intended purpose. This review is actually later than I would have liked because I used it once early on and then just couldn't get excited about the idea of using it again for a while, despite leaving it out on my desk, where, as I have mentioned, it *looked* great, in a bid to tempt myself. Honestly, if I hadn't left it out in full view I probably would have forgotten all about it and not used it again.

Let me be clear, there is nothing WRONG with this dildo, no glaring flaw or weird design feature or anything like that. It's just a bit... meh. At least for me. Nothing about the shape, size or material makes it stand out to me, and I ended up switching to something else from my collection to finish off every time I used it.

That said, I'm sure it might be just the thing for anyone looking for a well made, simple, realistic dildo. So far I've only used it for solo play, and my partner did point out that the suction cup might make this compatible with a strap on harness, so maybe that's what I need to make this toy a little more exciting.

It's a good size and shape for that sort of thing, and I can imagine that might be where this toy comes into its own for us, but at this point I'm only speculating.

The bottom line: this is a well-designed, nice-looking dildo with a lot to recommend it. It's not quite right for me, but I'm willing to bet it would be perfect for plenty of other people.
